Scope
PASA is an ISI-listed, fully-refereed journal for new and significant research in astronomy and astrophysics. With a strongly international author base, PASA covers a wide range of fields within astronomy. These include multi-wavelength observation, theoretical modelling, data processing and, particularly, southern hemisphere astronomy and astronomy with Australian instruments.

PASA publishes research papers, review papers and refereed conference proceedings, making use of expert reviewers from a wide range of countries. As an electronic journal, PASA publishes paper by paper, ensuring a rapid publication rate. All papers are archived at the NASA ADS archive.

PASA is published by CSIRO PUBLISHING on behalf of the Astronomical Society of Australia (ASA).

Manuscript categories
Research Papers contain original and significant research, or a description of a new technique or instrument. Submission of a paper implies that it has not been published before in essentially the same form, that it has not been submitted for publication elsewhere, and that all authors and the institutions where the work was carried out agree to its publication.

Refereed Conference Proceedings are research papers detailing work that has been presented at a conference of meeting.

Review Papers give a general overview of a subject of current interest in astronomy and astrophysics. The introduction should arouse the reader´s interest, describing the background, significance, and development of the field, and should be able to be understood by a broad audience.

PASA welcomes submission of short (up to five pages in length) Historical and Biographical Papers on subjects of relevance to Australian Astronomy.

Manuscript preparation
PASA style and layout requirements are laid out in the PASA Style Guide. When preparing your manuscript, please pay careful attention to the instructions in this guide. Adherence to the correct PASA style will hasten your manuscript´s progress through refereeing and production. A PASA LaTeX template is also available to assist in the layout of your manuscript. The template file also contains instructions for using LaTeX commands to include citations, figures and tables.

The initial submission of your manuscript should be a single file (PostScript or PDF), containing the text, tables, and graphics. If large graphics files are included, then the postscript file should be compressed using gzip, or similar software.
