Abstract

The action of 3- (p-chloropheny1)-1,1-dimethylurea (CMU) on both annual and perennial plants was studied. It was found to be a very powerful plant poison acting almost entirely through the root system, even though foliage applications a t high rates caused desiccation and abscission of leaves. No translocation of this chemical from shoot to root was detected.
