Formation of a Metallabicyclo[10.3.0]pentadeca-triene System: Molecular Structure of Ru3(µ3-C2Ph2C12H16)(µ-CO)2(CO)6

Abstract

The reaction between Ru₃(µ-H)(µ₃-C₁₂H₁₅)(CO)₉ and C₂Ph₂ affords Ru₃(µ₃-C₂Ph₂C₁₂H₁₆)(µ- CO)₂(CO)₆, characterized by a single-crystal X-ray structure determination. Addition of the alkyne to the cluster-bonded C₁₂ ligand gives a bicyclic 12/5 system incorporating the central ruthenium atom of a bent Ru₃ chain.
