Solvent isotope effects in the enolization of acetaldehyde, acetone, and ethyl methyl ketone at high acidities

Abstract

Measurements of enolization rates in D₂O-D₂SO₄ mixtures and H₂O-H₂SO₄ mixtures at high acidities yield data which support low (c. -7) values for the pK_a values of the protonated forms of acetaldehyde, acetone, and ethyl methyl ketone.
