Abstract

The molecular rotations, in aqueous solution, at 589 mμ, are tabulated for two hexapeptides and all the di-, tri-, tetra-, and penta-peptides of L-leucine and glycine containing one L-leucyl residue. The molecular rotations of the corresponding N-benzyloxycarbonyl peptides are also listed. It is shown that the ?residue rotation? of L-leucine varies widely, not only between those compounds in which the site of the residue is N-terminal, C-terminal, or internal, but also within these categories. Syntheses of certain of the compounds are described.
