The structure of two new depsidones from the lichen Parmelia notata

Abstract

Two new depsidones, 4-O-methylhypoprotocetraric acid [l'-carboxy-2'- hydroxy-4-methoxy-3,3',6,6'-tetramethyldepsidone, (1)] and notatio acid [1'- carboxy-2'-hydroxy-4-methoxy-3,6,6'-trimethyldepsidone, (2)], have been isolated from the Australian lichen Parmelia notata Kurok and characterized.
