Oxidation of (738211;)-α-terpineol to some epoxy-alcohols

Abstract

α-Terpineol has been converted by peracid oxidation into a 1,2-epoxy-8- ol(2a) and (2b), a 18-epoxy-2-ol (3) and a 2,8-epoxy-1-ol(5). The mechanism for formation and stereochemical assignments for these products are discussed.
