Rearrangements in the Furan Series. III. Reactions of 2,4-Diarylaminocyclopent-2-Enones With Nucleophiles

Abstract

Alcoholysis of the 4-arylamino group of a number of 2,4-diarylaminocyclopent-2-enones occurs readily to form the 4-alkoxy derivatives. Under suitable conditions a number of other nucleophiles yielded a variety of 4-substituted 2-arylaminocyclopent-2-enones. As by-products of these reactions several compounds having a novel tetracyclic structure were isolated.
