Sulfonyl Esters. IV. The Preparation of Aryl Dichloromethane- and Aryl Trichloromethane-sulfonate Esters

Abstract

The chlorination of carbanions stabilized by a sulfonate linkage has been examined. The goal of effective one-pot conversions of phenols into aryl dichloromethanesulfonates and aryl trichloromethanesulfonates was realized by using p-methylsulfonylphenyl chloromethanesulfonate and N- chlorosuccinimide as the reagent system.
