Abstract
Meisenheimer rearrangement of the 10b-vinylpyrrolo[2,1-a] isoquinoline and 11b-vinylbenzo[a]- quinolizine N-oxide derivatives (4a,b) gave, in low yield, the first examples of the 3,7-epoxy- 3-benzazonine and 2H-3,8-epoxy-3-benzazecine ring systems (5a) and (5b) respectively.
