A Reinvestigation of the Alkaline Degradation of Octa-O-acetylcellobiononitrile

Abstract

Treatment of cellobiononitrile octaacetate (1) with sodium methoxide followed by acetylation has been shown to give the C2 isomer of (1) as well as the four heptaacetates of O-β-D-glucopyranosyl -(1→3)-D-arabinose.
