Abstract

A weatherproof and durable trap has been designed to capture sugar gliders. The trap can be secured to the trunk of a tree, and it can be left in an open, inactivated state. In tests, the trap was more effective in catching gliders than the aluminium Elliott trap (type A or B), and it maintained them in a comfortable environment in an unstressed condition. By adjusting the size of the entrance, the trap can also be used to selectively trap other small arboreal or terrestrial mammals.
