Functional Plant Biology Special Issue Volume 41, Numbers 10 & 11
This issue is dedicated to drought research and compiles some of the papers presented at the InterDrought IV conference.
This issue of Functional Plant Biology is dedicated to drought research and compiles some of the papers presented at the InterDrought IV conference (Perth, 2–6 September 2013), augmenting two other special issues from the same conference (published in Crop & Pasture Science and Journal of Experimental Botany). The meeting focused on maximising water productivity, crop modelling, water capture, transpiration efficiency, growth and yield, breeding, and genomics and transgenics, and as such had a very multi-disciplinary nature. InterDrought IV also highlighted a number of case studies of breeding for drought stress, and discussed future challenges. This special issue addresses the challenges of adaptation implicit in genotype-by-environment interactions, brings new perspectives on root systems and water productivity, and reviews the challenges and opportunities provided by crop management, genomic and transgenic approaches to cultivar improvement. + Full description
