Abstract

Two growth curves are presented for above-ground portions of heath stands in south-eastern Australia. These curves represent the drier and wetter limits of the geographical range of heath in this region.

The growth curves do not necessarily indicate the maximum production of each site. This may be influenced by the development (or invasion) of taller-growing species, such as Banksia ornata, B. serrata, Eucalyptus baxteri, or Leptospermum Iaevigatum, at a later stage in the pyric succession.
