Abstract

Stylidium calcavatum R. Br. (n = 11) and Stylidium ecorne (F. Muell. ex Erickson & Willis) comb. et stat. nov. (syn. Stylidium calcaratum R. Br. var. ecorne F. Muell. ex Erickson and Willis) (n = 13) are shown to be distinct species separated by chromosomal, morphological and reproductive discontinuities. The derived species, S. calcavatum, is distributed over a wider, often more arid, array of ecological conditions and exhibits a reduced interpopulational coadaptation indicated by low seed set following interpopulational cross pollinations.
