| The On Borrowed Time Learning Resource aims to make teaching and learning about biodiversity easy and accessible. This resource helps to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively to biodiversity loss.
Adapted from David Lindenmayer's book, On Borrowed Time offers teaching and learning activities, support materials and related references to allow teachers and students to explore the implications and complexities of biodiveristy and to learn and practice relevant skills.
Developed for secondary students in the first four years of schooling, the On Borrowed Time Learning Resource not only covers Science, it also has learning units in Mathematics, and English, incorporating contemporary classroom practices.
There are four inquiry based teaching and learning units and two interactive learning objects which have been designed to be used flexibly by a team or individual teacher, in the identified learning areas. All aspects of the resource encourage students to acquire new knowledge and understandings, use their skills and capabilities to solve problems and take action. It is designed for teachers across Australia and as such, can be adapted to specific state-based curriculum objectives and requirements.
The On Borrowed Time Learning Resource is a joint initiative between the Purves Environmental Fund, Professor David Lindenmayer, and CSIRO Publishing.
