This comprehensive work presents a taxonomic revision of nearly 100 species of Australian stiletto-flies, with seventy species described as new. They are temporarily assembled in the ‘genus’ Anabarhynchus, and form an obviously paraphyletic group. All species are keyed and described, and the male and female terminalia are illustrated. The text also includes an historical outline, an atlas of morphological terms, a list of abbreviations for depositories and a checklist.
This will be a valuable resource for taxonomists, researchers and entomologists with an interest in these creatures and their use as measures of subterranean productivity and habitat heterogeneity.
