Trees for Shelter draws upon the findings from the National Windbreaks Program, and subsequent research into the role of wind damage, to explain the way that windbreaks work; their effect on those factors that might limit productivity; and how to design and maintain an effective windbreak system. It is a resource for farmers, land managers and policy makers to assist them with the challenge of realising the potential environmental and economic gains of integrating trees into farming systems.
