Description
This issue of Functional Plant Biology contains papers selected from those presented at the 5th International Workshop on Functional–Structural Plant Models, held 4–9 November 2007, in Napier, New Zealand.
This workshop series explores the manifold relations between plant structures and the processes that underlie their growth and form. The papers represent a whole gamut of scales, from microscopic molecular-level processes to the macroscopic interactions of plants in communities. They also cover a wide range of plants, from algae to trees. The topics include examples of comprehensive functional–structural models, models of key processes such as partitioning of resources, software for modeling plants and plant environment, data acquisition techniques, and sample applications of FSPM models.
