Description
Australian Plant Name Index is a list of all the names used for vascular plants discovered in Australia. More than 62 000 names of genera, subgenera, sections, species, subspecies, varieties and forma are included.
Each entry includes such data as the first reference to the occurrence of introduced plants, original references and type citations, lectotypifications, the place where type specimens are housed, and references to modern literature relevant to the name.
Readership
The Index will save taxonomists many hours of searching literature and should assist the process of stabilising the names of plants.
