Australasian Plant Pathology 33(3) 457 - 458

Abstract

Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense belonging to vegetative compatibility group (VCG) 0128 was isolated from banana plants in Tonga. Affected plants were showing leaf yellowing, leaf death and internal necrosis. This is the first confirmed record of fusarium wilt in this country and also in the central Pacific. This finding is presented in the context of the current geographical distribution of different strains of this pathogen in the Pacific Islands.
