First report of the aecial stage of Puccinia scirpi on Nymphoides indica in Brazil, with comments on its worldwide distribution

Abstract

The aecial stage of Puccinia scirpi (Aecidium nymphoidis) is newly recorded on Nymphoides indica in Brazil. Both the host plant and the rust are known to have a wide distribution around the world but P. scirpi was not previously known to occur in South America. The fungus is described and illustrated.
