Abstract

Knoevenagel condensation of malononitrile with aromatic aldehydes catalyzed by KF–Al₂O₃ under ultrasound irradiation in anhydrous ethanol results in the formation of arylmethylenemalononitriles in 73–97% yields within 15–60 min.
