A review of the Australian species of the genus Ligyra Newman (Hyperlonia Olim) (Bombyliidae : Diptera)

Abstract

The genus Ligyra Newman, previously known by its junior synonym Hyperalornia Rond., includes 22 species so far recognized in Australia. A total of 12 species are described below as new. Descriptions are given of all species, together with a key for their identification, and a neotype is established for L. bombyliformis (Macleay).
