Abstract
The dye Chlorazol Black E, incorporated in a leaf-clearing solution containing ethanol, chloroform, lactic acid, phenol and chloral hydrate, gave excellent differentiation of rust (Puccina striiformis and P. graminis on wheat and P. coronata on oats) and powdery mildew (Erysiphe graminis on wheat) infections in leaf tissue at room temp.
