A variant of the conventional Goodman-Stueben procedure involving generation of two competing activated carboxyl groups in the same coupling component has been used for the synthesis of a number of α,γ- L-glutamyl branched peptides. Application of a similar competitive situation has also been demonstrated in the 3-nitro-L-tyrosine series.
