The assessment of acute chest pain in New Zealand Rural Hospitals utilising point-of-care troponin.
Much of rural New Zealand lacks access to timely laboratory based highly sensitive troponin assay, instead relying on point-of-care troponin. These assays have much lower sensitivity and render the use of established accelerated chest pain pathways unsuitable for use in rural areas. We present a proposed pathway for those reliant on point-of-care troponin.
