Journal Board Terms of Reference

The Journal of Southern Hemisphere Earth Systems Science (JSHESS) covers the fields of meteorology, climate, oceanography, hydrology and the land surface with a focus on the southern hemisphere.

Purpose

To oversee the direction and performance of JSHESS.

Membership

  • Dr Bertrand Timbal, Head of Research, Bureau of Meteorology
  • Dr Roger Dargaville, Senior Lecturer, Monash University
  • Dr Diana Greenslade, Principal Research Scientist, Bureau of Meteorology

Responsibilities

The JSHESS Governance Board is responsible for:

  • Setting the strategic direction for JSHESS
  • Appointing and reviewing the performance, and if necessary changing the makeup, of the JSHESS Editorial Board
  • Monitoring performance of JSHESS, including publication timeliness and impact
  • Ensuring that CSIRO Publishing fulfils its responsibilities as publisher of JSHESS
  • Reviewing and setting policies and procedures as required

Frequency

The JSHESS Governance Board meets every three months, with capacity to meet by exception or out-of-session as required. The Editor-in-Chief and Editor are normally invited to such meetings.
