Reduction to equator, reduction to pole and orthogonal reduction of magnetic profiles

Abstract

In addition to reduction to the pole of total intensity magnetic anomalies, two new magnetic transformations, reduction to the equator and orthogonal reduction, can be used to correct the asymmetry and lateral shift of measured magnetic total field profiles. These transformations can be implemented in both space and frequency domains. When the transformations are performed in the space domain the accuracy of transformation improves as the length of the profile increases. In the frequency domain applying a spectral window enables the transformation of short length profiles.
