![]() Andrew Smith is Shell’s Country Chair in Australia and Executive Vice President of the company’s upstream businesses in Australia and New Zealand. His career with Shell Australia began in 1986, as an engineer at the company’s iconic Geelong Refinery. During the next 20 years Andrew led Shell businesses across the globe—including the company’s business in Fiji and the Pacific Islands through a period of political upheaval. He was the head of Shell’s extensive petrochemical manufacturing business in the busy Singapore trading hub, before leading Shell’s world-leading products trading business in London. After several years abroad, Andrew returned to Australia with his family in January 2010, when he took up the newly created position of Vice President Downstream Australia. Three years later he was elevated to Shell’s most senior position in his home country, recognition of his unique experience in operational management positions across the entire hydrocarbon supply chain. Andrew graduated from the University of Melbourne with an honours degree in chemical engineering before joining Shell Australia in 1986. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in industrial relations and human resource management from Monash University. Andrew is married with two children, and is a keen sailor. |
