Abstract

The ever increasing speed of technological change is disrupting businesses everywhere and the oil and gas industry needs to meet this challenge through effective application of new technology and innovative solutions across the entire value chain.

This session will look at Woodside’s approach to enabling innovation, including our problem first innovation model where business needs drive where innovation is focussed. A ‘Think big, prototype small, scale fast’ approach to the identification and application of new technology at Woodside has seen success in several areas and will be presented including our artificial intelligence, data analytics and LNG solutions.

Innovation is a collaborative effort between the business and technologists and the culture of the organisation is a critical factor for delivering sustainable success.

Shaun Gregory has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from the University of Western Australia in Mathematical Geophysics and a Master of Business and Technology from the University of New South Wales.

Shaun has over 25 years’ industry experience and leads Woodside’s value chain from Exploration acreage capture and evaluation, through Appraisal and Development concept selection. He is passionate about technology and innovation and the role they play in enabling business outcomes. As the Chief Technology Officer Shaun oversees Woodside’s Technology advancements in LNG, data science, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation.

Shaun is a member of Dean’s Council for the faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics at UWA and is a Board member of Scitech WA.
