A re-study of the Perkins types of Australian Pipunculidae (Diptera) and the type of Pipunculus vitiensis Muir from Fiji.

Abstract

A redescription of the types of Pipunculidae from Australia described by R. C. L. Perkins and the type of Pipunculus vitiensis Muir from Fiji is given. P. crypsichalcus Perkins is recorded as a new synonym of P. (P.) anthracias Perkins and comitans Perkins and agamus Perkins are new synonyms of P. (Eudorylas) lamellifer Perkins. The corrected names for the host leafhoppers is given wherever this information is available. The known Australian species are keyed and figured.
