Abstract

The group is regarded as including only the genus Platyzosteria which is divided into three subgenera: Platyzosteria Brunner, Melanozosteria Stal, and Leptozosteria Tepper. Of those species which have already been named, 25 are allotted to Platyzosteria, 34 to Melanozosteria, and 4 to Leptozosteria. Six new species of Platyzosteria (sensu stricto) are described here, namely ainsliensis, albopilosa, rufoscabra, stirlingensis, stradbrokensis, and tenuis. Three new species of Leptozosteria are also described here, namely carpentariensis, latissima, and subaquila. There are several unnamed species of Platyzosteria (sensu stricto) represented by material inadequate for description, and also a few unnamed species of Leptozosteria. Numerous species of Melanozosteria remain to be described.
