A Revision of the Australian Stonefly Genus Austrocercella Illies (Insecta: Plecoptera: Notonemouridae)

Abstract

Austrocercella Illies is briefly redescribed and its species are reviewed. Ten new species and two new subspecies are described: Austrocercella alpina, sp. nov.; A. autumnalis, sp. nov.; A. communis, sp. nov.; A. communis obtusa, subsp. nov.; A. distans, sp. nov.; A. elevata, sp. nov.; A. forcipula, sp. nov.; A. illiesi, sp. nov.; A. illiesi tarraensis, subsp. nov.; A. nivalis, sp. nov.; A. verna, sp. nov.; A. weiri, sp. nov. Diagnoses and illustrations are also given for all previously known species. A key to the adults of all the now recognized species of Austrocercella is presented.
