As a not-for-profit publisher, CSIRO Publishing is committed to advancing open science and serving the needs of researchers. We pride ourselves on providing a supportive and accessible service for our authors throughout the publishing process. 

Our journals started in the late 1940’s within the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). Established as a stand-alone publishing house in 1995, CSIRO Publishing’s editorially independent program now covers a wide range of scientific disciplines and publishes thousands of articles each year.

We are a proud member of several professional societies, including the International Association of STM Publishers [external link] and Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers [external link]. We are also a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) [external link], demonstrating that we are committed to best practice ethical standards including scholarly peer-review.

Open

We are working together to make a sustainable transition from paywalled research to one of openness, transparency, and reproducibility in publishing. All our journals offer Open Access or hybrid publishing models that comply with funding bodies requirements, and we are working with many institutions and the library community to facilitate Read & Publish agreements. We also have a Green Open Access policy that allows for accepted manuscripts to be added to institutional repositories with no embargo. 

Speed

We offer fast publication without compromising on quality. We ensure rigorous peer review to maintain the integrity of information. Times from submission to first decision and acceptance to publication vary depending on the journal, and can be found in the flyer on the Home Page for each journal.

Quality 

Our editorially independent Boards are comprised of world-leading scientists who are actively engaged in the research community. They underpin the integrity and rigour of peer review process. Also, following acceptance, each paper is professional copyedited to improve clarity and readability. 

Discoverability

We ensure your research is easy to find, share and cite, making your ideas and knowledge accessible to other researchers, communities and institutions around the world. 

Our journals are indexed with industry services including CrossRef, Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, Baidu Scholar and PubMed. We have also integrated with ORCID and Publons, so authors and reviewers are seamlessly connected to their professional outputs.

In addition, all our content is made available through Research4Life [external link], enabling access to developing countries for low or no cost.

 Impact 

We have a dedicated team who strive to maximize the visibility, reach and use of our published articles. As well as indexing, we promote content through social media, email alerts, tailored collections and online communities. 

At the article level there are integrated tools to measure your impact through citations and Altmetrics.
