Abstract

The main source of information on perinatal morbidity in Australia is state and territory perinatal data collections. Some jurisdictions collect information on all maternal and neonatal conditions, others collect information on a limited set of conditions. Thus there is currently no published information on the full range of conditions affecting mothers and newborns in Australia. It is also recognised that there is variable under-enumeration of those conditions that are covered by perinatal data collections.
