Dr P. T. Sowmya is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, Mysuru, India. She obtained her post-graduation (5 year Integrated M.Sc.) and Ph.D. from University of Mysore, India. She worked under the guidance of Prof. K. M. Lokanatha Rai for her Ph.D. She is the recipient of DST-INSPIRE fellowship from Government of India. Her research interests are synthetic organic chemistry, synthesis and characterization of liquid crystals, and natural products.



Dr K. M. Lokanatha Rai, currently serving as Visiting Professor at Vijnan Bhavan, Manasagangothri, Mysuru, India, is a Professor (retired) of Department of Chemistry, University of Mysore, India, with 34 years of teaching and research experience. Dr Rai obtained his post-graduation and Ph.D. from University of Mysore, India. He did his post-doctoral study at Bar Ilan University, Ramat-Gan, Israel, under the guidance of Prof. Alfred Hassner. He is the recipient of Bharatha Rathna Dr Radhakrishnan Gold Medal award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Education and Research. He has published more than 200 research articles in both national and international journals with citations of more than 2869. His research interests are organic synthesis, photocatalysis, reaction mechanism, and liquid crystal synthesis.



Dr Anitha Sudhir is presently working as Professor and heads the Department of Chemistry, Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, Mysuru, India. She obtained her Master’s degree in chemistry with distinction and gold medal from University of Mysore, and was awarded her Ph.D. in physical chemistry by University of Mysore. Her area of specialization is kinetics. She has many research papers to her credit in various Indian and international research journals. She has been teaching engineering chemistry for over two decades.



Dr Sumana Y. Kotian obtained her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees from University of Mysore, Mysuru, India. She worked under the guidance of Prof. K. M. Lokanatha Rai for her Ph.D., wherein she was involved in the synthesis and characterization of five-membered heterocyclic compounds and study of their liquid crystalline properties, and studied their biological activities by in vitro and in silico methods. She has been actively involved in research for the past nine years. Currently, she is working on the analysis of antibiotics using UHPLC and LCMS/MS.
