A quick-release coupling for a hand auger

Abstract

This report describes the design and function of a hand-augering system using a square hollow-section steel tubing and spring-load pins to enable rapid coupling and uncoupling. The report does not attempt to elaborate on auger cutting head design and performance; the Jarrett Auger is used in this report only to illustrate the complete auger assembly.
