Determination of dissolved carbonate/bicarbonate in the presence of sulfide

Abstract

Sulfide interferes with the determination of carbonate/bicarbonate in soil solutions by pH-titration methods. Its effect, and that of other weakly acidic but oxidizable anions, can be detected and eliminated by prior treatment of the solution with hydrogen peroxide.
