Alkaloids of Crotalaria trifoliastrum Willd. and C. aridicola Domin. I. Methyl Ethers of Supinidine and Retronecine

Abstract

In some samples of Crotalaria trifoliastrum Willd., the major alkaloids are 1-methoxymethyl-1,2-dehydro-8α-pyrrolizidine and 7β-hydroxy-1-methoxymethyl-1,2-dehydro-8α-pyrrolizidine, the methyl ethers of supinidine and retronecine respectively ; in other samples, the former alkaloid is largely replaced by a third non-ester alkaloid, C₉H₁₅O₂N. The first two are the major alkaloids also of C. aridicola Domin.
