Abstract
In the absence of base thermal dissociation of the title compound is accompanied by isomerization to 2?,3-dimethoxy-1,2-dihydro-1,1?- binaphthyl. In the presence of acid small amounts of 5,6,11,12,- 13,14,15,16-octahydro-5,12:6,11-diethenodibenzo[a,e]cyclooctene-13,16- dione are also formed. The 14,15-dihydroxy derivative of this ketone is formed by treatment of the title compound with aqueous potassium permanganate.https://doi.org/10.1071/CH9752005
