Studies of Australian soft corals. II. A novel cembrenoid diterpene from Lobophytum michaelae

Abstract

A new cembrenoid diterpene is reported from Lobophytum michaelae, a soft coral. It is shown to have structure (3) and is clearly related to lobophytolide (1).¹ Evidence for the structure is largely spectroscopic, relying especially on infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance data, and is consistent with the results of ozonolysis.
