Social Media Editor

Call for expressions of interest, Social Media Editors of Wildlife Research

Wildlife Research is seeking expressions of interest for the position of Social Media Editor. This role is an opportunity to enhance the Journal's digital presence and engage with the research community through social media. Subject areas include, but are not limited to the ecology, management and conservation of wild animals in natural and modified habitats. Wildlife Research is published by the not-for-profit publisher, CSIRO Publishing. Editors-in-Chief determine the publishing strategy of the journal, and lead a team of Associate Editors to manage the peer review process of papers received by the journal.

Role Overview: As a Social Media Editor of Wildlife Research, you will communicate its content and foster a community around our social media platforms. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Social Media Representation: Use social media account(s) owned and operated by Wildlife Research to represent the Journal to the research community, including current and potential authors and readers, relevant societies and industry groups, universities and research institutions, journalists, policy makers, and more.
  • Content Sharing: Share content from and about Wildlife Research. The focus will be on highlighting publications by the journal and communicating their findings in a digestible format.
  • Engagement: Engage with social media users in a professional and friendly manner, always in accordance with the Editorial Board Conduct Policy and the terms of use of the account(s).
  • Community Interaction: Interact with members of the research community by following relevant accounts, reposting appropriate and applicable content, and responding to comments.
  • Reporting: Provide the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher with an annual report of engagement data from the account(s).

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Write engaging and shareable posts that highlight new issues, online early and most-read articles, ‘hot topic’ papers, calls for submissions, journal representation at conferences, awards and prizes, and other relevant content as advised by the Editorial Board or the Publisher
  • Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in social media management and science communication to continuously improve the Journal's social media strategy
  • Liaising with Authors: Ensures accurate representation of their work and helps the editor build genuine connections with the community.

Term: The term of this engagement is two years, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and mutual agreement.
