Investigations of suint. II. The positive identification of some constituent organic acids

Abstract

Chiefly by the use of gas chromatography and mass spectrometry the following acids have been positively identified as constituents of the suint from a crossbred Merino fleece: Acetic, propionic, butyric, valeric, hexanoic, isobutyric, 2-methylbutyric, 3-methylbutyric, 2-methylvaleric, succinic, glutaric, α-hydroxyglutaric, α-ketoglutaric, benzoic, and phenylacetic.
