Chemical studies of the Proteaceae. III. The structure determination and synthesis of striatol, a novel phenol from Grevillea striata R. Br

Abstract

From the wood of Gevillea striata R. Br., a phenol, striatol, C₂₈H₄₂O₄, was isolated. Chemical and spectroscopic evidence indicated its structure to be 1,14-bis(3,5-dihydroxy-4-methylphenyl)tetradecane. The structure was confirmed by synthesis.
