Synthesis of 2,6,7-Trimethoxy-3,4-methylenedioxyphenanthene, a degradation product of ocoteine

Abstract

The synthesis of 2,6,7-trimethoxy-3,4-methylenedioxyphenanthrene (3) by the application of the Pschorr reaction is reported. The product was identical with that obtained by degradation of the aporphine alkaloid ocoteine (2).
