Abstract

Reaction of cis- and trans-6-t-butyl-1-oxaspiro[2,5]octane with acetone in the presence of BF3 gave, in each case, a mixture of the epimeric 8-t-butyl-l,3-dioxaspiro[4,5]decanes (5) and (6). The mechanism of the reaction is discussed.
