Structures of the Steroidal Alkaloids 25-Isosolafloridine and Solacallinidine Isolated From Solanum callium

Abstract

The two major alkaloids isolated from Solanum callium are 25-isosolafloridine and solacallinidine, which have the structures (25S)-22,26-epimino-5α-cholest-22(N)-ene-3β,16α -diol (la) and (25s)- 3~-amino-22,26-epimino-5α -cholest-22(N)-en-l6α -o1 (lla), respectively. The somewhat different properties reported by previous workers for a synthetic compound described as 25-isosolafloridine indicate that it was probably not stereoisomerically pure.
