Abstract

Five pairs of young Jersey cross cows were split between two milking regimes, one involving a stimulating preparation and the other depending on the milking machine for stimulation. An exceptionally regular routine was adopted. Most of the cows milked with a regular routine without preparation did not condition to the routine as indicated by milk and fat production and maximum milking rate. The stimulated animals averaged 16 per cent more butterfat and 14per cent higher average milking rate.
