Abstract

Benlate (R), (benomyl) a new experimental fungicide, was tested against app1.e scab (Ventaria inaequalis (Cke.) Wint.) in South Australia in the 1968-69 season. In an orchard heavily infected with scab it gave equal or better control OF the disease than did Melprex (R). Benlate (50 per cent wettable powder) was used at rates of 4 oz and 2 oz to 100 gallons every 14 days, and 4 oz to 100 gallons every month ; Melprex (65 per cent wettable powder) was used at 8 oz to 100 gallons every 14 days. Both materials were applied as protectants only.
